Probably the best view in Kuala Lumpur, along with tasty food, refreshing cocktails and a great atmosphere.
We spent an evening at the newly opened Banyan Tree in Kuala Lumpur, where we reviewed both the rooftop bar called Vertigo and the rooftop restaurant named Horizon Grill. Two of the most famous and popular rooftops in the city. And we can understand why.

Vertigo is the rooftop bar situated on the highest floor of Banyan Tree in Kuala Lumpur. Up here you’ll get a fantastic view over the city skyline and all surroundings. The mighty Petronas Twin Towers and the famous TV Tower makes this skyline one of the best in the world. And the fact that the sun sets just behind doesn’t make it worse. We were lucky enough to time a magical sunset.
The long terrace is very popular and gets full quite fast around sunset. Therefor it’s always advisable to book your table in advance. There are also seats available inside if it starts to rain.
Classic bar stoles and bar tables can be found under the roof. And here you can also find the long bar counter and DJ booth. Live DJs makes the atmosphere perfectly “loungy” which creates a great atmosphere.
We had a dinner planned in the rooftop restaurant and therefore we decided to only have some cocktails up at the rooftop bar. We ordered some classic ones like Mojito, Negroni and Gin & Tonic. All of them tasted just like they should.
Both the drinks and the vibe were very good. But, the best thing with Vertigo is the spectacular view and sunset. You can’t get enough of it when sitting on the terrace.
If Vertigo is a perfect place for some drinks, Horizon Grill is the perfect place for a dinner with a view. One floor below Vertigo you’ll find this gem. Directly when setting your foot in here, you’ll get a feeling of luxury and quality. Both the décor and reception make you feel at home at once.
As it was no rain this evening, we were lucky to get a table on the outside terrace of the restaurant with panoramic views over the enlightened Petronas Towers.
This is probably the best place to see the city from. All the neon lights and skyscrapers make you feel like you’re on top of the world out here. Another nice thing with the terrace is that it’s not over crowded or to full.
Only a couple of tables are available on the outside terrace, and the rest of the dinner tables can be found inside.
For dinner we decided to try a 3-course menu with wine package. For starters we got an avocado mousse with tuna. Very refreshing and tasty.
The main course was a choice between Tortellini, fish or meat. We ordered the fish and meat. The meat was very good and served in 2 different ways and the fish was OK. Good, but nothing more. And to end the dinner we got grilled pineapple with ice cream.
After visiting 7 rooftops in 3 days, this was one of the best experiences we had. Much thanks to the beautiful view and sunset, but also thanks to the great service and atmosphere.
We can recommend Vertigo and Horizon Grill to everyone that will visit Kuala Lumpur. And if you’re looking for the full experience, you should book your stay at this luxurious hotel. As a bounus to the rooftop bar and restaurant there is also an amazing rooftop pool available for the guests of the hotel.
