Overview
Historic vibes and breathtaking views.
The Fisherman's Bastion is probably more known as an historic Budapest tourist attraction than as a rooftop bar. This majestic seven tower castle on the hills of Buda does however work as both.
So while it is well worth a visit just for the architecture and the amazing panoramic views over Donau and all of Pest, you should not miss the opportunity to try the Fisherman's Bastion rooftop bar and restaurant.
The indoor restaurant is called Halászbástya Restaurant (Halászbástya meaning 'fishermen' in Hungarian) and serves classic local food in a beautiful castle setting. And above the restaurant you find the Margaret Terrace, stretching over a long part of the castle (and also occupying one of the towers), directly facing the magnificent views over the river and the city.
The terrace is open during summer for refreshing cocktails, beers and wine, but is also open and heated during the colder months, offering more warming beverages.
A perfect setting for a special and romantic dinner, and of course also as a place for some relaxation and drinks during a more touristic visit. Just remember that it is a highly popular place and reservations (for restaurant in perticular) is highly recommended.
For historic vibes and breathtaking views, this is really the top pick among the best rooftop bars in Budapest.
