Overview
Urban rooftop serving craft beer, artisan wine and a dayily changing set of cocktails.
Nestled amongst the heritage rooftops of Northbridge you find Mechanics’ Institute Bar, a small and classic public rooftop bar in Perth. And a quite great one at that, as it has been the winner of 'Best Small Bar' and 'Best Bar Manager' in the annual Australian Bartender Magazine Awards, nominated as 'Bar of the Year' and with top placements in the Top 100 Bartenders Australia 2021.
While the rooftop might not win 'View of the Year' you do get a nice glimpse of the Perth skyline. Mechanics’ Institute is a split-level bar with a friendly hipster vibe, where the rooftop terrace is urban basic, surrounded by brick walls and with community wooden tables and a recently added retractable roof.
Friendly and relaxed, this is a perfect Perth rooftop bar for catching up with friends over some well-made cocktails, crafted beers or artisan wine. And if hunger starts creepin up on you, just head over to the bar and order some Flipside burgers.
Note: To get to Mechanics’ Institute Bar, access via a rear laneway between James St & Francis St, atop 222 William St.
