Overview
Ambiance: The top floor of the fantastic hotel EQ Kuala Lumpur has a whole lot to offer, featuring a very stylish rooftop speakeasy bar, an open-air deck with panoramic city views, and a fine dining rooftop restaurant. Aptly named Sky51, the 51st floor rooftop is home to Blue, an elegant indoor lounge with plush chairs, a glittering bar and floor-to-ceiling windows. Outside you find Sky51, a spectacular alfresco terrace, where the panoramic views over KL are at its best. The breathtaking vistas include both the KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers.
Drinks & Food: From the rooftop bar you can enjoy fine, elegant and crafted cocktails, bringing to life the exotica of Malaysian fruits, botanicals and spices in exciting new ways. There is also a wide range of premium spirits, as well as some elevated bites, from oysters to sliders. Next door to the rooftop lounge and terrace you also find Sabayon, an award-winning rooftop restaurant, serving contemporary European cuisine, prepared with premium imported ingredients and exceptional Malaysian products. This elegant and lavish venue is open for rooftop dinner every evening, and also offers a four-course Sunday Sky Brunch.
What we think: Sky 51 has always been one of our favorite rooftop spots in KL. And 2025 is no exception. Sophisticated and upscale in setting and atmosphere, the Blue and Sky51 rooftop also comes with a vibe. There is an upper deck VIP section where live DJs create the weekend vibes, and inside, live bands often put on electrifying performances.
Dress code: The Sky51 dress code is smart casual. So, typically, it’s a look that lands between a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, and a full-on suit and tie look. You can mix elements of those two outfits, or you can add or takeaway things to make it smart casual.

- Check out the sunrise yoga sessions.

Overview
Ambiance: If you are looking for certain and uninterrupted 360-views, and a completely open and airy terrace, this is the place! Just as the name suggests, Helipad KL is a big helipad made into a Kuala Lumpur rooftop bar. Cool fact: daytime it is actually still used as a real helipad. Up here you have a magical and panoramic view of the entire city and as far as the eye can see. Nothing for people with fear of heights, as there are no rail or walls, just you and all of the city at your feet. The terrace is quite low key and simple in decoration, with a mix of plastic chairs and some more comfy lounge chairs. Understandable, the view is the main decoration.
Drinks and Food: The rooftop bar offers classic cocktails and all the regulars of beer, wine and spirits. There are also delicious asian bar bites available to share. The wings are superb!
What we think: Helipad, or Heli Lounge Bar as it is also called, might not be the top rooftop in Kuala Lumpur in terms of decoration and drinks, but it is a truly a unique experience, and with the amazing views on display it is well worth a visit. The best time to visit the Helipad is at sunset, as watching the sun go down over Kuala Lumpur is something really special. Tip is actually to try and be here as close to opening as possible, as it is a popular place and the seats up top fills up rather quickly. Later at night the vibe at Helipad usually is pretty high, with a younger crowd enjoying the night.
Dress code: The Helipad KL dress code is casual before 9pm, and smart casual after 9pm.

Serving fresh seafood and premium steaks, Horizon Grill is open for breakfast and lunch, but is probably best for a romantic dinner with some unforgettable views.
What we think: We visited this rooftop in 2018 and 2024 and it’s still as good as it has always been. That tells us that Vertigo is a high quality rooftop space well worth a visit. Visits around sunset are highly recommended. Recently, the rooftop destination at Banyan Tree also got a third addition, with Vertigo TOO opening on top of Vertigo. This stylish and 60th floor venue takes the panoramic 360° views over KL even a notch higher, and takes the chill-out drinking to a new level.
Dress code: The Vertigo & Horizon Grill at Banyan Tree dress code is smart casual. So, typically, it’s a look that lands between a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, and a full-on suit and tie look. You can mix elements of those two outfits, or you can add or takeaway things to make it smart casual.
