Overview
Tap house with a sunny rooftop biergarten.
Atwater Brewery & Tap House is located in Detroit’s historic Rivertown district. Set in a 1919 factory warehouse, this venue is filled with history and charm, but the elevated dining and drinking experience is much more modern.
Added in 2017, the comfy Atwater Brewery rooftop biergarten features both communal seating and a bar. And while the second floor location might not include any breathtaking views, it is still a great spot to enjoy some sunny alfresco hours while watching the happenings along the riverfront.
Not surprising, the Atwater menu includes a large selection of crafted beers, with a focus on traditional German style lagers, along with unique boutique ales. The main brewing equipment, as well as most of the malt and hops, are actually brought in from Germany.
But not all about beer, the menu also holds wines and Atwater Spirits, as well as an extensive array of American and German-inspired pub fare. Perfect to enjoy up on the rooftop terrace, or otherwise on the street side patio or inside the taprooms.
Offering great beer, great food and a great atmosphere, a visit to Atwater Brewery is pretty much always a good idea. Come for the 3-6pm weekday happy hour, a weekend brewery tour, the weekly trivia, or just for a good time anywhere in between.
