Overview
Mid-century inspired rooftop hideaway, with 360° views of the iconic Detroit skyscrapers.
The recently restored neo-gothic Metropolitan Building in downtown Detroit is not only home to the superb hotel Element Detroit, it also holds a rooftop bar that is like no other in the city.
Called The Monarch Club, this upscale cocktail bar, penthouse lounge and rooftop is just about as stylish as the building it sits on top. And with a 13th floor location, it also offers some very impressive and sweeping 360-views over downtown Detroit.
Mixing old-school and elegant charm with modern comfort, The Monarch Club is divided into a deep blue and red indoor lounge, leading out to the much more bright, marble white and minimalistic rooftop terraces (yes, there are three).
The Monarch Club menu offers classic, yet innovative cocktails, a nice selection of beer and wine, as well as a variety of tasty small plates and shareables. From Salmon Sliders to Mushroom Truffle Flatbread.
With a sophisticated yet vibrant and friendly atmosphere, The Monarch Club is a great venue for fine rooftop drinks and bites during summer, where the cosy fire-pits will keep you warm even on a chilly night. But you can also visit during the colder months, when the terrace is dotted with some really cool rooftop igloos, offering a truly memorable winter experience.
